Strictly star uses hypnotherapy to overcome stage fright

Strictly Come Dancing star Ali Bastian has enlisted the help of a hypnotherapist to help overcome her stage fright.

The actress turned dancer, is preparing to play the lead role in a new Latin and ballroom dancing show named Burn the Floor. She will be starring in the show along side her Strictly dance partner and boyfriend Brian Fortuna, when it hits the West End stage later this month.

Bastian, who played Becca Dean in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and PC Sally Armstrong in ITV's The Bill is currently in rehearsals, but according to a source behind the scenes, it is clear she is feeling the pressure.

The unnamed source was cited in the Daily Record as saying: "There are a lot of really serious dancers on Burn The Floor and while Ali has proved herself to have what it takes, it's worth remembering she was an actress until not so long ago.

"She's got a bit of stage fright ahead of the show and she feels she just needs a little bit of help to make sure her mind is in the right place," they added.

Bastian has turned to Scottish hypnotherapist Ali Campbell for help. The hypnotherapist and life coach will teach the actress calming techniques, which will help soothe her nerves before each show.

Campbell has treated a number of high profile clients including Destiny's Child singer Kelly Rowland, who described him as her 'secret weapon.' Other clients include TV presenter Kaye Adams, who he hypnotised to help her find a set of lost keys.

Burn The Floor arrives in London after a successful spell in New York where the show broke box office records, with dancers on the show collectively holding more than 100 dance titles.
